(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team placed all three of its First-team All-Centennial Conference selections on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Division III All-America Team, announced on Wednesday.
Junior Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), and sophomore long poles Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) and Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School) were named Honorable mention in the attack, the midfield and on defense, respectively.
Maher made his second straight appearance on the All-Conference squad, earning his first All-America nod. He led the Red Devils in scoring and was third in the conference with 43 goals on the year. He added five assists to rank fourth in the CC in points. Maher found the net a career-high six times against both St. Mary's College and Gettysburg, and scored the game-winner in overtime at Ursinus to secure the #3-seed in the playoffs. He raised his career numbers to 71 goals, 12 assists and 83 points, heading into his final campaign as a Red Devil.
Usich moved into a starting role this season, earning All-America honors while continuing a tradition of talented long pole midfielders. He was among the conference leaders with team-highs of 45 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers. In addition, he helped the Red Devil face-off unit as they won just under 60 percent on the year. He slipped into the attack to score three goals and hand out an assist as well.
Doran earned his first All-Conference award as a sophomore defender, earning starts in all 16 games this season. Doran controlled 25 ground balls, reached double-figures with 10 caused turnovers, and helped lead the Red Devils to just under 84 percent on clears. He also moved up to the wing on face-offs during the year to help produce a solid winning percentage on the draws.
Senior defender Andy Grabis (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's) was selected for the USILA/
Nike North-South Senior All-Star Game to be played at Providence College on Friday, May 26. Opening face-off for the Division III match-up is scheduled for 3:00 pm. The Division II/III game is set for a 5:00 pm start.
Grabis caused 17 turnovers and picked up 25 grounds balls this spring, in addition to shutting down opposing attacks with exceptional close defense. His stick handling proved to be a valuable asset on clears and in tight games, while his senior leadership showed equally as valuable this season.
The Red Devils ranked in the top 20, nationally, for almost the entire season. They jumped out to a 4-0 start and ran their record to 9-1 on the way to a 12-4 finish. They posted a 6-2 mark in conference play to advance to the conference semifinals for the third time of four seasons and the seventh in the past eight years. They had a great showing on the All-Conference team, earning nine selections.
