Fast Start Leads #13 Red Devils to 17-3 Win

(Allentown, Pa.) – The #13-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team improved to 11-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference, posting a 17-3 win at Muhlenberg College on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils struck twice early, putting two goals on the board in the opening 32 seconds. Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) found the net at the 14:34 mark and Austin Hurdle (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) won the face-off and fed Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven), just six seconds later.

Maher and Carney each scored twice as Dickinson built a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Senior Tyler Llewellyn (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the way in the second period with two goals as the Devils stretched the margin to 10-1.

Frankie Feaster scored in the opening quarter and fed Scott Fayan for the Mules' second goal of the game to make the score, 10-2, at halftime.

Llewellyn netted his third of the game to start the fourth as Carney dished out a pair of assists for a 12-2 advantage.

Senior Mike Cherry (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) put the Devils up, 14-3, early in the fourth and first-year Zach Levin (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) scored twice to finish things off with assists from senior Mike Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Berkshire) and brother Ben Levin (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury).

The Red Devils claimed 16-of-23 face-offs as Hurdle won 7-of-9 and controlled five ground balls. Junior Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) won 5-of-8, adding five GBs as well. Bobby Hartwick (Brookville, Md./Georgetown Prep) went 3-for-4 on the day while Will Smith (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) was 1-for-2.

Andrew Jones (Odenton, Md./Arundel) made four saves before Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Michael Marinelli (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) came on for the final 12 minutes.

The Red Devil defense allowed just one goal in each of the first three periods and held the Mules scoreless over the final 20 minutes of the game.

The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Centennial Conference standings with Franklin & Marshall holding the top spot at 6-0. The #15-ranked Diplomats come to Carlisle on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm showdown at Biddle Field.
