(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team turned in a strong performance on Wednesday, posting a 12-7 win, over visiting #16-ranked Gettysburg College. The victory was even sweeter as it marked #-200 for head coach Dave Webster (Dickinson '88). Webster is in his 13th season at the helm of his alma mater, and in the 23rd year of his career.
Senior All-American Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the way with a solid, five goal effort to pace the Red Devil attack while sophomore Nick Baxter (Boxford, Mass./Governor's) was a brick wall in the cage, stopping 16 shots on the day, including seven in the final quarter.
Cannon put Dickinson on the board, scoring at the 11:03 mark of the first period. Tyler White (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) finished an assist from Ace Sudah (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Joseph), on a fast break, to put the Devils in front, 2-0, with 9:33 on the clock.
Derek Ruebling scored the first of his three goals to put Gettysburg on the board, less than a minute later. Sophomore Chris Menard (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) ripped a shot into the back of the net for a 3-1 advantage, with 2:26 remaining in the first.
Robby Maddux tallied a goal and an assist to tie the game with 1:29 to play, but White answered in the final minute to put the Devils up, 4-3, at the end of the first period.
Martin Manilla scored, just over a minute into the second period to knot the game once again. Ruebling traded goals with Brian Gleason (Darien, Conn./Darien), but Cannon and Menard scored back-to-back goals to give Dickinson a 7-5 edge, heading into halftime.
Maddox capitalized on a man-up opportunity to cut the margin to one before Cannon and Menard responded to give the Devils a 9-6 lead with 9:30 remaining in the third. That would close out the scoring for the period.
Cannon tallied his fourth and fifth goals to open the fourth quarter. He tallied off an assist from Gleason at the 12:08 mark and scored unassisted with 3:31 remaining in the game.
Gleason found sophomore Rob Kendall (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy), with just over two minutes remaining, to stretch the lead to 12-6.

Draper Donley (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's School) and Youssef Gorgi (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) each controlled three ground balls and did a solid job on clears. Michael Smith (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) also played well in the defensive third.
