(Jersey City, N.J.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team had a tough outing in the second round of the Rose City Classic, falling to Wheaton College (Mass.) 81-59 on Saturday afternoon.
Wheaton jumped out to an early lead and held a 54-27 advantage at the break. Junior Mike Jurzynski (Pearl River, N.Y./The Master's School) strung together three straight baskets for the Red Devils, leading the way at halftime with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Senior Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) added seven points, going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
The Red Devils regrouped at the break and outscored the Wolves in the second half, 42-37.
Jurzynski finished with 15 points on the night, going 6-for-7 from the field. Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) had a strong second half, scoring 16 points to go with three assists and a pair of steals.
Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) reached double-figures with 10 points, adding four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot. He earned All-Tournament team honors, adding 21 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals on Friday night.
First-year Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) added a pair of three-pointers, finishing with eight points.
The Red Devils combined to shoot 15-of-18 from the free throw line.
Dickinson returns home to open Centennial Conference play on Tuesday night. The Red Devils host Muhlenberg College at 8:00 pm in the Kline Center.
