Centennial Conference | Silver Anniversary Basketball Teams

(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Centennial Conference is celebrating 25 years as one of the elite small college athletic conferences in the country with the announcement of its Silver Anniversary teams, highlighting the best of the best over our first quarter-century. 

For inclusion on a Silver Anniversary team, a student must have a degree from one of the Conference institutions and met one of the following qualifications: 

  • 3-time or 4-time First-team All-Centennial performer
  • 2-time Centennial Conference Player of the Year
  • 1st team All-America AND 2-time First-team All-Centennial performer
  • 2-time All-America (1st, 2nd or 3rd team)

For individual sports such as swimming and track and field, the accomplishments must have occurred in the same event. 

Today, Dickinson's all-time leading scorers for men and women's basketball are honored as Annie Guzek '96 and Gerry Wixted '15 join the Silver Anniversary Team. Guzek was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 1994 and 1996, leading the Red Devils to the conference title in 1994 as well. Wixted was named the D3hoops.com National Player of the Year and the conference Player of the Year in 2015. He led the Red Devils to a pair of conference titles, raising the trophy in 2013 and 2015.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Annie Guzek, Class of '96: Inducted into the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 2006; Three-time All-American: 1994, 1995, 1996; Named to Five All-America teams during her career; ECAC All-South Region: 1994, 1995, 1996; Centennial Conference Player of the Year: 1994, 1996; First-team All-Centennial Conference: 1994, 1995, 1996; McAndrews Award Winner: 1993-94, 1995-96; Team MVP: 1994, 1996; Team Captain: 1994, 1996; Middle-Atlantic Conference Playoffs: 1993, Centennial Conference Champions: 1994; ECAC Tournament: 1993, 1994, 1996; Set more than 25 school and Centennial Conference Records during her career; currently holds school career records for: Points, Rebounds, Field-goals made, Field-goal %, Free throws made, Blocked Shots; Ranks second in steals; Scored 1,800 points without making a three-pointer; At graduation she had also tied the school track & field record in the high jump and held the single-season school mark for goals-against-average (1.09) in 1993 as the goalkeeper for the women's soccer team.
