Red Devils Too Much for Terror in 58-47 Win

(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team had a strong start and continued to build on the lead throughout the game, claiming a 58-47 win at McDaniel College on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 12-0 start in the opening five minutes. McDaniel finally put points on the board at the 15-minute mark. Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) hit a three-pointer to make the score, 15-2, as Dickinson started the game, 6-for-6 from the field, hitting a trio of three-pointers.

The Red Devils doubled-up the Green Terror, taking a 28-14 lead, with five minutes remaining in the half. Dickinson went into the break, leading 30-18. Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) led the way with 10 points and five rebounds while Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) tallied six points and six rebounds.

Melton opened the second half with a dunk before Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) and Romocki hit back-to-back three-pointers to extend the margin to 38-20.

The Red Devils built the lead to 21 on back-to-back triples from Romocki and Hinckley, and Dickinson remained in control for the remainder of the second half. McDaniel made a late run but was unable to catch the Devils.

Melton finished with 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Red Devils, hitting 9-of-16 shots from the field. Romocki tallied 13 points and three steals while Allen hit a pair of late free throws for 12 points. Hinckley scored nine points to go with six rebounds and three assists.

The Green Terror falls to 4-15 and 1-11 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils improve to 11-8 and 7-5 in the conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Johns Hopkins University for a 2:00 pm tip-off.
