(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a strong run down the stretch but couldn't catch host Ursinus, falling 87-75 in Collegeville on Thursday night.
The game was steadily even throughout most of the first half with the Red Devils leading, 22-20, with just under seven minutes to play.
The Bears went on a run to close out the first half, taking a 38-24 advantage into halftime. The Red Devils chipped away at the lead, cutting the deficit to just seven at the midpoint of the second half.
The lead swayed between seven and 10 points down the stretch, but Dickinson was unable to close the gap any closer.
Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) hit 9-of-13 shots for a team-high 21 points while Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) tallied 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, adding four steals. Sophomore Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) went 5-for-6 from the line, scoring 14 points to go with three assists.
Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) was just shy of a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists. First-year Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) chipped in with seven points on the night.
Ryan McTamney led Ursinus (9-5, 5-2 CC) with 24 points while Zach Quattro added 18.
The Red Devils slip to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils are in action again on Sunday, facing Washington College at the Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania at 5:30 pm.
