15th-Ranked Franklin & Marshall Tops Devils in Finale
| (Lancaster, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's basketball team closed out the season with a tough road loss at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The Diplomats, ranked 15th in the latest national poll, jumped out to an early lead en route to a 90-49 win on senior day. | |
The Devils held their own early, trailing just 9-6 at the 15:48 mark. The Devils were within eight midway through the half. F&M went on a 16-6 run to stretch the margin to 34-16 with just over three minutes to play in the half.
The Diplomats held a 42-24 advantage at halftime. They held the Devils to just two points to start the second, building a 54-26 lead with just under 14 minutes remaining in the contest.
F&M (21-4, 15-3), who will host the conference final four next weekend, continued to extend the lead throughout the second half. James McNally led the way for the Diplomats, scoring a game-high 19 points and controlling 10 rebounds.
First-year Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Tilton School) led the Red Devils with 12 points and three steals. Chris Smith (West Hartford, Conn./Loomis Chaffee) had another strong outing with eight points and three steals.
Junior Matt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's Prep) added eight points, a block and a steal while Chris Heine (Spring Lake, N.J./St. Rose) tallied five points and five rebounds.
The Red Devils finish the season 4-19 overall and 4-14 in the Centennial Conference.
