(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team turned in an outstanding performance on Saturday, outlasting visiting Lebanon Valley, 3-2.

The Dutchwomen struck first, scoring just six minutes into the contest as Cecile Kat carried a nicely placed through ball from Taylor Pentz into the circle and hit the back of the cage for a 1-0 advantage.

The Red Devils remained composed and countered with just over 24 minutes to play in the half. Following a penalty corner Marie Laverdiere (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) rattled the cage with a blast off an assist from junior Mia Scott (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) to level the match.

First-year Ellie Werner (Hellertown, Pa./Moravian Academy) put Dickinson in front, scoring off a rebound with 19:55 remaining before the break.

The lead lasted just a little over three minutes before Lebanon Valley answered with solid execution on a penalty corner. Karli Alichwer found the target with a double-assist from Alida Steenkamer and Pentz on the insert.

The Red Devils would capitalize on a scramble in front of the cage, 10 minutes into the second half. Sophomore Emma Godfrey (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) made a remarkable play, diving and putting the ball into the back of the cage with backhanded rake.

That put the Devils in front for good and they would hold on defensively in front an outstanding performance from junior goalkeeper Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep). Meeder finished with eight saves, making two incredible stops in the second half to preserve the win.

Victoria ByDelay made eight saves for Lebanon Valley as the fall to 0-3 on the season.
