Devil Hockey Starts Weekend with 3-0 Win

(Bryn Mawr, Pa.) – The Dickinson College field hockey team struck twice in the first half and once in the second, posting a 3-0 win at Bryn Mawr on Friday afternoon.

 

 

First-year Celeste Pilato (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) put Dickinson on the board in the 22nd minute, scoring off an assist from senior Katie Mersky (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day). Junior Laura Hitchings (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) scored on a penalty stroke to give the Devils a 2-0 lead at halftime.

 

 

Sophomore Lauren Wyman (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) stretched the Devil lead to 3-0, just 3:28 into the second half. Wyman finished an assist from junior Alex Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh).

 

 

Sophomore Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) did not face any shots in 63 minutes of action. Jaime Rogers (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) made a pair of saves in the final seven minutes to preserve the shutout.

 

 

First-year Caroline Kapustynski (Darien, Conn./Darien) added a defensive save to aid in the shutout effort as well.

 

 

The Red Devils improve to 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Lebanon Valley College on Monday for a 4:00 start.
