Mitchell, O'Connor Return to Gridiron

(Carlisle, Pa.) - Dickinson College senior football players Ian Mitchell (Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Patrick O'Connor (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) will both strap on their helmets one more time and take to the gridiron.

Mitchell has been in Salem, Virginia this week, preparing for tomorrow's Division III Senior Football Classic. O'Connor will represent the United States on Team Stars and Stripes in Mexico for Tazon de Estrellas on December 19th.

The Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) is proud to present the exciting opportunity to showcase the Division III Senior Football Classic.

The D-III Football Senior Classic will bring ninety players, who represent 238 D-III football programs, to a North vs. South format all-star game on December 5, 2009 in Salem, Virginia. These players will have earned the honor to play against their best peers in a showcase for all to recognize the talent laden D-III football level.

Team Stars & Stripes head coach Bill Manlove has selected a provisional roster of 51 players to face the Tec Monterrey All Stars in the 2009 Tazón de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) on Saturday, December 19 on the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico. A total of 35 colleges from 20 states are currently represented on the Team Stars & Stripes roster: "The fact that we have so many schools and states represented shows how far and wide the appeal of flying the flag overseas for Division III football reaches across the United States," said event organizer Patrick Steenberge.

"We will have players traveling from coast to coast who will come together as a team in Mexico and celebrate their college football careers together."

Mitchell and O'Connor have both enjoyed outstanding careers with the Red Devil football program. Over the past four years they have posted a record of 31-11 and set numerous Centennial Conference and school records. Mitchell set five conference records and more than seven school marks this fall. He is the career leader at Dickinson for passing and total offense while O'Connor holds school career records for receptions and receiving yards. O'Connor is also the single season conference leader in receiving yards, covering 1,324 yards in 2008.
