(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a double-header at Johns Hopkins University to close out the 2018 campaign.
The Blue Jays scored lone runs in the seventh and eighth innings to break a 7-7 tie and win game one, 9-7 and claimed the nightcap, 9-4.
Dillon Bowman hit a two-run homer to put Hopkins up, 2-0, in the bottom of the second. The Red Devils strung together four hits in the top of the fourth to pull in front, 3-2.
Bowman homered again in the fifth before Dickinson pushed across three more in the sixth to lead, 6-3. Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) doubled to score two runs and then scored himself on a double-steal.
Hopkins added a solo shot and three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to slip back in front, 7-6.
Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) countered with a solo homer in the seventh to knot the game at 7-7. Mike Eberle doubled in a run in the bottom half, and another double and a sacrifice fly in the eighth would give the Blue Jays the lead and the 9-7 win.
Carter went 2-for-r with two RBI and two runs scored Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) and Reid Collins (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) combined for eight strikeouts.
The Blue Jays capitalized with a pair of doubles and two homeruns to take a 6-2 in the fourth inning of game two. Bowman homered and tallied an RBI as Hopkins stretched the lead to 9-2.
The Red Devils wrap up the season 8-6 overall and 5-13 in the Centennial Conference.
