(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson senior Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) squared off in his second straight Centennial Conference pitcher's duel, but came up short once again despite an amazing three-hit complete game.
O'Neil booked six strikeouts on the afternoon and allowed just two walks but the Green Terror would manage an unearned run in the top of the ninth to claim a 1-0 decision on Tuesday. Robbie Mays earned the win on the hill, holding the Red Devils to four hits while recording 10 K's.
O'Neil did not face more than four batters in any inning until the ninth, facing 32 on the day.
First-year Chris Delsandro (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) went 1-for-2 with a walk while Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) spoiled the no-hitter from the lead-off spot in the bottom of the first inning.
McDaniel improves to 7-10 overall and 1-6 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 6-15 and 3-4 in the CC. Dickinson is home again tomorrow afternoon, taking on Messiah College at 3:30 pm.
