(Huntingdon, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team improved to 2-1 on the season, working past Juniata College, 12-10 on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils scored on a two-run double from Joey Volpe (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) in the second inning and erupted with a six-run third behind a grand slam from sophomore David Farnham (Atherton, Calif./Menlo School) to counter a pair of three run innings from the Eagles.
Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./MDonogh School) scored once in the third inning and tallied RBIs in both the third and fifth.
After the teams traded runs in the fifth. Juniata tied the game 9-9, pushing across a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jonathan Chudacoff (Highland, Ill./Berkshire School) drove in Brown with a double in the top of the seventh and came in to score with Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) on a two-out single from Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area).
Juniata managed to produce one in the bottom of the ninth before Reid Collins (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) closed out the game.
Brown went 3-for-5 on the day with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Carter and Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) each had two hits while Thompson walked and scored twice.
Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) and Ethan Collins (Elmer, N.J./Arthur P. Schalick) combined for 12 strikeouts in five innings of work. Tommy Koide (Morristown, N.J./West Morris Mendham) added five strikeouts and allowed one hit in two innings while Anthony Francioso (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton East) and Collins added strong innings of relief as well.
The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They are scheduled to host Hood College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
