(Greensboro, N.C.) – Dickinson junior pitcher Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team. O'Neil was a Second-team selection to the squad, earning First-team All-Centennial Conference honors this season as well.
O'Neil recorded eight wins, ranking second on the program's single season top 10 list. He was third in the CC with a 2.14 earned run average to rank seventh on the program list while breaking into the top 10 in starts and innings pitched. For his career, he ranks fourth all-time at Dickinson with a 3.11 ERA, seventh for lowest opponent batting average (.253) and ninth in career wins (9).
He ran his season record to 8-0 and 4-0 in the conference before a tough, one run setback against Franklin & Marshall to finish 8-1 overall. He led the Red Devils with 51 strikeouts on the year, raising his career mark to 78, in just under 100 innings of work.
The Red Devils finished 20-20 overall, producing 20 wins in three of the past four seasons. The pitching staff combined for a school record eight saves while defensively the Red Devils set new marks for chances (1,555), putouts (1,014) and assists (460).
