Devils Top Bullets, O'Neil Wins Seventh

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and junior pitcher Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) did the rest, winning his seventh game of the season.

O'Neil moved into second on the single season wins list, tying Sean White '12 as he improved to 7-1 on the year. O'Neil went seven innings, scattering five hits and recording five strikeouts.

The Red Devils struck early, using four hits to score five runs in the top of the first. First-year Pat Davis (New Providence, N.J./Morristown-Beard) launched a two-run homer to lead the way.

Dickinson scored lone runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings, while Gettysburg put two on the board in the bottom of the seventh.

Sophomore Stephen Sakowicz (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) matched Davis, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Junior Jonathan Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill./Berkshire) went 2-for-4, scoring twice on the day.

Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) drove in a pair of runs behind two hits and Rick Hopkins (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) scored twice and drew a pair of walks.

The Red Devils improve to 19-14 overall and 6-5 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils will face Gettysburg in Carlisle on Friday at 3:30 pm to close out the series.
