Baseball Drops 2-1 Heartbreaker at McDaniel

(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a heartbreaker at McDaniel to open the two-game series on Wednesday afternoon, falling 2-1.

The Green Terror scored lone runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Red Devils answered in the top of the eighth as pinch-hitter Adam Quine (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) reached on a walk, moved all the way to third and came in on a double-play to put Dickinson on the scoreboard.

Junior pitcher Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) suffered his first loss of the season, slipping to 6-1 on the year, despite a remarkable performance on the hill. He recorded 10 strikeouts on the day, scattering six hits and allowing just one walk.

Sophomore Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh) led the Devils at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double. Junior Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) added a double  on the day as well.

The Red Devils slip to 16-13 overall and 3-4 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face McDaniel and close out the series on Friday at 3:30 pm at MacPhail Field.
