(Winter Haven, Fla.) – The Dickinson baseball team split a double-header with Trinity College (Conn.) on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils claimed game one, 8-1, but dropped the nightcap, 16-2.
Trinity scored one in the second as back-to-back singles to start the inning led to Tyler Forgione coming in on an RBI fielder's choice.
The Red Devils rallied in the top of the fifth after first-year Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) led-off with a single and sophomore Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh School) drew a walk.
Chudacoff drove in another run in the top of the seventh as the Red Devils tacked on three more. First-year Pat Davis (New Providence, N.J./Morristown-Beard) added two RBIs with a single to stretch the lead to 7-1. Brown singled to give the Devils one more, scoring Davis for the 8-1 final.
Davis went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Sakowicz had a pair of hits as well. Billy O'Neil (South Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) improved to 3-0 on the year, recording six strikeouts in a complete game effort.
The Bantams jumped out early in game two, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. They used four hits, including a two-run double from Ryan Fultaggio.
The Red Devils got one back in the bottom half of the inning, using three hits with Hopkins driving in Sakowicz to put Dickinson on the board.
Alex Rodriquez singled in the second and came around to score and stretch the lead to 5-1. They had another big inning in the fourth, adding four more runs for a 9-1 lead.
After Trinity added a lone run in the fifth, Ryan Fuscaldo (Phoenixville, Pa./Haverford School) doubled to drive in Farnham before the Bantams scored six runs in the sixth for the final of 16-2.
Sophomore Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) went 2-for-3 while Hopkins and Fuscaldo tallied RBIs in game two. A contingent of Red Devil pitchers combined for eight strikeouts.
The Red Devils move to 7-3 on the season. They are in action again on Monday, facing Suffolk University at 12:45 pm.
