(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team saw things go bad early, suffering a 23-6 loss at Muhlenberg College on Friday afternoon. The Mules jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first, adding another seven-run inning in the sixth.

The first six batters reached base and came around to score for the Mules in the bottom of the first, led by a two-RBI double from Kurt Johnson. Joe Vila drove in a pair of runs with a single.

Matt Primavera (Erdenheim, Pa./Chestnut Hill) drew a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brian McCloud (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) in the second, to put the Devils on the board.

Sam Wachs (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) singled and moved to third on a double by Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley). He came in to score on a sac-fly by Joe Tursi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City).

The Mules answered with four runs on the bottom of the third to stretch the lead to 11-2. McCloud added RBIs in the fourth and fifth innings as the Devils added three runs before another four-run half by Muhlenberg made the score, 15-5, at the end of the fifth.

The Mules pushed across seven runs in the sixth, all unearned, and tacked on one more in the seventh. Conor Foote (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) had a pinch-hit RBI, scoring Tursi in the eighth inning.

Sophomore Hank Sanders (Wellesville, Pa./Northern) recorded his 50th hit of the season on Friday. He went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks. Benn Parker (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) went 2-for-3  while McCloud finished with three RBIs.

The Red Devils drop to 13-24 on the season and 3-13 in the Centennial Conference. They return home for a double-header with Washington College on Saturday to close out the season. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
