(Middletown, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team beat the rain to post an 8-4, non-conference win at Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a two-run homer from sophomore Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) in the top of the first inning. The Lions answered with one in the third before a three-run inning put Dickinson in front, 5-1.

The Devils drew back-to-back walks to lead-off the fourth. Luke Besse (Marston Mills, Mass./Barnstable) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Brian McCloud (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) scored two more runs with a base-hit to left field.

A two-run single in the bottom of the fourth pulled the hosts within two runs at 5-3. The Devils struggled in the fifth but added three runs on the sixth to stretch the lead to 8-3. McCloud added another RBI while sophomore Mike DeVivo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) scored two with a double to right.

The Lions got one back in the seventh and threatened in the ninth, but the Devils held, winning 8-4.

McCloud went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored while Haynes went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two RBIs and two runs scored to go with his homerun. First-year Alex Rhoads (Princeton, N.J./Solebury School) went 3-for-5, scoring twice on the day as well.

Sophomore Hank Sanders (Wellesville, Pa./Northern) went over the 50-hit mark, going 2-for-5 to give him 51 on the season.

Sophomore Tyler Clauson-Wolf (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) earned his third straight decision, getting the win in relief, going 3.2 innings. Jimmy Robertson (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) got the start while Thomas Galuchie (Upland, Calif./Claremont) came on for the final two innings.

The Red Devils improve to 13-23 on the season. They return to Centennial Conference action on Friday, traveling to Muhlenberg College for a 3:30 pm start.
