(Winter Haven, Fla.) – The Dickinson College baseball team had another strong outing in Florida on Wednesday, posting a 12-1 win over Stevens Institute of Technology.
First-year Sam Wachs (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) drove in two runs and scored on an RBI single from James Santoro (Freehold, N.J./St. Rose) to put the Devils up 3-0 in the second inning. Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) added a double in the inning as well.
Wachs drove in another run in the third before Stevens answered with its lone run of the game in the fifth inning. The Devils answered with six runs in the sixth inning behind a two-run double from senior Jordan Kaufman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) and two more RBIs for Santoro.
Kaufman went 4-for-4 on the day, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Wachs finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Santoro added three RBIs on a pair of hits while Andrew Sterling (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) added two hits and scored a run, and Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth, N.J./Ridge) crossed the plate twice, adding a single.
First-year Charlie Gaines (Phoenix, Md./St. Paul's School) went seven innings, scattering three hits in a one-run effort to earn the win. Zee Crawford (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) came on for two innings of relief, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout.
The Red Devils improve to 7-3 on the season. They square-off against Kalamazoo College in a double-header on Thursday and close out the week with a twin-bill against St. Norbert on Friday.
