Three Red Devils Earn All-Centennial Conference Baseball Honors
2011 All-Centennial Conference Team
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College baseball team earned three spots on the 2011 All-Centennial Conference baseball team, announced this week. Junior pitcher Sean White (Summit, N.J./Salisbury School) was named to the Second-team for the second straight season while classmates Tyler Rosa' (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) and Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) earned Honorable mention. White makes his third appearance on the team, earning Honorable mention in 2009 as well. Rosa' was named to the Second-team in 2010.
White had another outstanding season on the mound, recording a career-high 80 strikeouts on the year. He broke the Centennial Conference and school records with a 21-strikeout performance in a complete-game shutout against McDaniel. White allowed less than one hit per inning on the year, posting a 3.35 earned-run-average. He raised his career strikeout total to 203, ranking second all-time at Dickinson. Peter Sivess retired 243 batters by virtue of strikeout between 1933 and 1936.
Rosa' had another remarkable year at first base. He hit .358 on the season, recording 43 hits, including 10 doubles and four homeruns. He was fifth in the Centennial in RBIs and walks, and ranked seventh in both slugging and on-base percentage. He finished just three away from the single-season mark, driving in 34 runs in 2011. Rosa' reached the century mark for hits this spring, raising his career mark to 110 while hitting .328 for his career to-date. He was solid defensively at first base, committing just four errors in over 300 chances.
Tuneski put up some big numbers on the way to his first selection to the All-Conference squad. He was ninth in the CC, hitting .360 with a team-best 45 hits on the year. He scored 23 runs and drove in 19 behind six doubles and a triple. Tuneski was perfect on the base paths, stealing eight bases after drawing a team-high 24 walk this spring.
Senior pitcher Evan Fitzpatrick (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) was also honored by being named to the Centennial Conference Baseball All-Sportsmanship Team. He finished second behind White with 50 strikeouts on the season. He went over the century mark for his career, recording 116 strikeouts in 151 innings at Dickinson.
The Red Devils had a remarkable season overall, setting a school record with 21 wins to finish 21-15 on the year. The Devils had a record-breaking season overall, setting more than a dozen school records this spring.
